They deliver breathtaking images with extremely high contrast. 100% Strehl on axis (average) The resolving power exceeds similar eyepieces for planetary observers that we have developed many times over. The HR series impresses with more than 97% Strehl at the edge of the field of view when combined with the Vixen AX 103 refractor telescope. In comparison, a standard LV 2.5 mm eyepiece has only about 90%. Complete stray light correction The grooved frame construction of the lenses contributes to the reduction of stray light. The inside of the eyepiece is grooved and blackened and the internal baffles effectively prevent any stray light and reflections that can cause image degradation. Also suitable for Newtonian telescopes with fast focal ratios The HR eyepiece series works excellently with the R200ss, for example, and is capable of correcting coma images. The HR series also has a 93% Strehl ratio at the edge of the field of view. With an LV 2.5 mm eyepiece, the brightness of the object drops rapidly in the peripheral area. The ratio is only 90% in the central area and 0% at the edge. Conventional eyepieces only show their full performance when the object is in the center of the image. The result is a decreasing resolving power at the edge of the eyepiece's field of view. The HR eyepieces are therefore ideal for observing the lunar surface and offer high resolution over the entire field of view. Simple 5-element in 3-group lens design While most eyepieces are constructed with 7 or 8 lens elements, the HR eyepieces have been designed with 5 lens elements. This achieves the greatest possible light transmission. Absorption and reflection are extremely low. Improved light transmission The Vixen AS coating achieves an enormously high light transmission of 99.9% per lens surface. It is vapor-deposited on all lens surfaces to provide extremely high-contrast images.
