Zeiss 50/540 objective in a beautiful custommade Alu-tube. A very nice small and light telescope with excellent Zeiss optics. Magnifications beyond 100x are quite possible. The tube was custom-made and powder-coated by a specialist. The 1.25 inch focuser was aligned so that you can come into focus using a star diagonal mirror and the tube clamp was custom-made for this tube and fitted with an APM Deluxe Vixen rail. A Japanese ND 5.0 (1/100,000 % pass) solar filter was fitted with a plug-in mount for this optic. In the star test, a color correction can be seen that corresponds to today's ED Apo's or the AS 80/1200. The star test is picture-book perfect, a perfect symmetry. I estimate the Strehl to be well over 99%. Even at 270x (2 mm eyepiece) almost only the thick diffraction disk can be seen and hardly any energy in the diffraction rings. No optics can be manufactured better. I can produce a star test video on request.
