TS-Optics Dual Mount for large telescopes A dual mount is the most stable way for attaching two telescopes to one mount. The dual mount is made for large telescopes. At one side, it holds instruments up to 50 kg and at the other one instruments up to 30 kg. The extra wide distance of 430 mm, always measured from middle to middle, allows also attaching of telescope tubes with large diameter.
The advantages of the dual mount- Designed extra stable for telescopes up to 50 kg
- Extra wide even for large tubes diameters
- Base dovetail (TSO-L-up500) with 15 mm thickness to prevent vibrations
- Extra stable Losmandy style saddle plates of hardened aluminum and with clamping jaw of brass
- The design allows 100% balancing of the telescope on the mount.
Advantages over other attachments Usually, tube rings provide only a small support area and, due to the felt liner, they are not very stable. The guiding scope or telephoto lens can move relatively to the main telescope. Additionally, lever is more unfavourable. The mount is clearly higher burdened than with the dual mount. The guiding scope is significantly closer to the centre of gravity of the mount. Balancing the instruments is easier with the dual mount, too.
Among others, the dual mount is suitable for the following mounts:
- Losmandy G11, Titan
- Skywatcher EQ6, EQ8
- Celestron CGEM, CGX
- 10Micron GM2000
