TS-Optics Deluxe Dual Mount for Vixen/EQ5 style clamps and mounts
A dual mount is the most stable way for attaching two telescopes to one mount. Especially for astrophotography, this kind of fastening is very popular. Thus you can attach a guiding scope or a camera for piggyback photography next to the main telescope.
Advantages of the Dual Mount
-
Maximum stiffness without unnecessary weight through profile design
-
High-quality clamps ensure best grip even after years
-
The instruments are clamped across the surface, preventing from unaesthetic clamping marks and increasing stability
-
The smooth side profile of the dual mount allows 100% balancing of the instruments on the mount
- The positions of the dovetail clamps can be changed: Distance of the two clamps (middle to middle): 295 mm, 330 mm or 365 mm. Thus the connection can adapt flexibly to the telescope diameter.
Advantages of a dual mount over other attachments
Usually, tube rings provide only a small support area and, due to the felt liner, they are not very stable. The guiding scope or telephoto lens can move relatively to the main telescope. Additionally, lever is more unfavourable. The mount is clearly higher burdened than with the dual mount. The guiding scope is significantly closer to the centre of gravity of the mount. Balancing the instruments is easier with the dual mount, too.
Among others, the dual mount is suitable for the following mounts:
-
Skywatcher EQ3, EQ5, H-EQ5, AZ-EQ5
-
Celestron Advanced VX
-
Meade / Bresser Mon2, LXD 75
-
Vixen GP series
-
With the adapter TSO-PS3-V to all mounts with Losmandy style saddle plate
