TS Optics Astrophoto package for all Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes from Celestron and MeadeThe package is suitable for all SC telescopes from 5" to 16" aperture. It is simply screwed to the 2" SC thread of the telescopes and makes the SC fit for astrophotography. The complete kit does not only offer valuable components for an economical package price, it also guarantees optimal matching of the components to each other and the telescope and thereby very good photographic results.
Features- Reduction of focal length and increase of speed
The focal length of the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope is reduced and, at the same time, the speed is increased from f/10 to f/6.3. The necessary exposure time is shortened to 40%. For example, the focal length of a C8 is shortened from 2000 mm to 1260 mm. - The stars over the field become sharper
The 4-element corrector not only shortens the focal length, it also improves field correction. Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes have a quite curved field. The corrector flattens this field. The stars at the edge become smaller and sharper, and the limiting magnitude rises. - A high-performance off-axis guider for precise guiding
For taking beautiful images of weak nebulae and galaxies, exposure time has to be increased. An off-axis guider reflects a light beam near the edge with a small prism, and the stars in this light beam are used for guiding. The advantage compared with a guide scope: Money is saved, the mount has to support less load, and the stars become more round, as the same optics are used for guiding as for taking the image. - Direct adaption of your DSLR or CCD camera
The working distance from the T2 thread at the camera side to the camera sensor is exactly 55 mm. The adaption of a DSLR is very simple - attach T2 ring (see recommended accessories), attach DSLR camera and get started. CCD cameras can be adapted trouble-free, too.
Connecting an autoguider or a crosshair eyepiece As off-axis guider, the stable TSOAG16 from TS Optics is used. At the side, the off-axis guider has a T2-thread for attaching an autoguider or a crosshair eyepiece.
Focusing the autoguiders is easy:
- First, focus the object through the main camera with the telescope.
- Loosen the small headless screw at the T2 adaptation at the side of the off-axis guider.
- Now you can shift the autoguider for achieving the optimum focus without changing the focus position of the telescope. Thus you optimally match the position of the autoguider or the eyepiece with the camera. Afterwards, you can start with the exposure.
- You have to perform this calibration only once. For this, we recommend the moon or a distant (more than 1 km) object at daytime, like a church spire or an antenna.
