TS Optics Astro CCD Camera for Moon and Planets with 1.25'' adapter
The CCD Astro camera is a real improvement compared with normal webcams.
The TSSSI can be regarded as sucessor of the Philips webcams, as it has been developed for astronomy and offers good photographic characteristics especially for sun, moon and planets.
The advantages
-
real CCD sensor (Sony HAD) - more sensitivity and better colours than CMOS sensors
-
640x480 pixels - good compromise between image quality and speed
-
high resolution (5.6 µm pixels)
-
AmCap-Software - camera control program
-
Life image for fast focusing and for use as digital eyepiece
-
1,25" nose-piece with filter thread - connects directly to astronomical telescopes
-
Frame rate: max. 20-30/sec (depending on PC). Best quality with 5/sec (uncompressed images)
System requirements
-
PC or Laptop up to Win7 (drivers for Win10 are unfortunately not available)
-
USB 2.0 Port
- 333 MHz Pentium 2 or better
-
min. 128 MB RAM
-
40 MB free hard disk space
-
Monitor resolution 1024 x 768 Pixel or better
-
recommended for 32bit
Practical tip
If maximum photographic resolution of an existing telescope is wanted (e.g. for planetary photography), the focal ratio should be reduced to f/25...f/30. Then the sensor pixels have the optimum resolution. This can be done by using Barlow lenses.
For other tasks like wide field photography, the sensor might become too small for wider fields. Here, a focal reducer is the solution. A 1.25" version easily screws into the camera´s nose-piece
