The SV230 is an aspherical superzoom eyepiece with a focal length of 8 mm to 20 mm and a click-stop mechanism. The eyepiece has an apparent field of view of 55°-75° and offers maximum viewing comfort. It also supports the connection of an astigmatism corrector. The large eye relief of 17-19 mm enables a comfortable viewing position even for spectacle wearers. It can be used both day and night and offers excellent resolution and contrast as well as a sharp image with a large apparent field of view. Planetary observation with the SV230 eyepiece is not only extremely comfortable, but also of high quality, as it provides clear and undistorted images without edge distortion. The eyepiece is also suitable for large-area observations.
Click - Stop DesignThe click-stop mechanism on a zoom eyepiece, such as the SVBONY SV230, offers several advantages:
- precise magnification adjustment: the click-stop allows the magnification to be set precisely, as the eyepiece clicks into place at certain focal lengths. This makes it easier to quickly switch between different magnification levels without the hassle of searching for the correct position.
- better orientation: the fixed locking points help the observer to keep track of the magnification settings, especially in the dark when visual control is difficult.
- comfortable operation: The mechanism ensures comfortable operation as no continuous rotation is required. This prevents accidental adjustment, making observation more stable and comfortable overall.
Panorama wide-angleThe 55°-75° panoramic wide-angle zoom eyepiece combines the advantages of a zoom eyepiece with those of a wide-angle eyepiece and thus offers ultimate viewing comfort. Such an eyepiece is ideal for users looking for both flexibility and a large, impressive field of view in a single eyepiece.
Dual interface connection with 1.25" and 2"Another outstanding feature of this panoramic wide-angle zoom eyepiece is its compatibility with telescopes. It can be used on all telescopes with 1.25" or 2" ports, making it particularly versatile and adaptable. M28.5x0.6 & M48x0.75 filter threads are available.
Flatfield designThe 55°-75° panoramic wide-angle zoom eyepiece with flatfield design offers the following advantages:
- Sharpness as far as the edge: In contrast to conventional eyepieces, where the image is often blurred at the edge, the flatfield design ensures that objects appear sharp and clear both in the centre and at the edges of the field of view. Depending on the optics, a slight drop in sharpness towards the edge can be recognised.
- Reduced distortion: The flatfield design minimises optical distortions such as coma or field curvature, which can occur with conventional eyepieces. As a result, the image remains uniform even at high magnifications and across the entire field of view.
- Ideal for large-area observations of the sky: When observing extended objects such as star clusters, galaxies or nebulae, the flatfield design allows these objects to be clearly recognised in their entirety.
Astigmatic corrector support (e.g. Televue Dioptrx)The panoramic wide-angle zoom eyepiece offers another useful function: the support of an astigmatic corrector, such as the TeleVue Dioptrx. This corrector is particularly beneficial for observers with astigmatism, as it improves visual acuity without the need for glasses. Here are some advantages:
- Clearer vision for astigmatics: The Dioptrx or similar correctors compensate for astigmatism by correcting visual defects that would normally distort the image. This significantly improves image quality, especially at high magnifications or when observing fine details.
- Increased comfort: As the Dioptrx is attached directly to the eyepiece, there is no need to wear glasses when observing. This makes observation more comfortable and allows full immersion in the wide field of view.
- Easy to attach: Many modern eyepieces, including this zoom eyepiece, are compatible with correctors such as the Dioptrx, which attaches easily. This further increases the flexibility of the eyepiece. The rubber eyecup of the eyepiece can be removed. Underneath is an M43 T-mount, which can be attached using an M43-T adapter (not included).
For spectacle wearers who suffer from astigmatism, the support of such a corrector is a significant advantage, as it significantly improves the viewing experience without restricting the large panoramic wide-angle field of view.
Aspherical lens
Double-sided aspherical glass lenses have been developed to eliminate edge distortion. They solve the persistent problem of poor image quality at the edges of wide-angle eyepieces, overcoming the visual limitations of users.
Multi-coating of the optical lenses in the eyepiece
Fully multi-layered coatings help to increase the light transmission and transparency of the glass and, in combination with the 6-group, 9-element design, provide a clearer image.
Edge extinction
This design can absorb unwanted light when observing objects and reduce the effects of light pollution.
Rubber eyecup
The adjustable rubber eyecup is comfortable for viewing with or without glasses.
