Product description

PegasusAstro V2 Falcon Camera Field Rotator

Pegasus Astro Falcon Rotator is a light-weighted, low profile camera field rotator. Do not be fooled by its thin size! It can lift and handle heavy image trains ? dead accurate! Very easy to operate via ASCOM drivers or standalone software will make your life easier to automatically adjust with precision your camera field.

M54 threaded / low profile

Both openings of the rotator are M54 threaded, so it is possible to use even full frame camera sensors without vignetting.

The thickness of the rotator is 18 mm / 0.7", plus an M54 adapter ring of 1 mm thickness, so 19 mm backfocus is to be expected: 18 mm + 1 mm = 19 mm.

With only 700 grams of weight and 6 kg payload, the device is not heavy.

Adapters for both sides (included)

Two different adapters are provided:

  • Telescope side: 2" nosepiece to M54 male
  • Camera side: M54 male to M48 male adapter

Adapters for the most important other cases are linked in the accessories section.

Precise rotation

A powerful geared / low backlash stepper motor ensures that the rotator will lock to the designated degrees. Mechanics inside the focuser guarantee zero flex in any point during a full circle rotation.

Rated load

Falcon Rotator has been tested at 6 kg / 13.2 lbs of imaging setup but the 6 stainless steel branded bearings can easily handle higher payloads with zero flexure.

De-Rotation support for Alt/Az mounts

Rotator has the precision to fully support that. PegasusAstro is going to provide the required software for de-rotation calculations very soon. (under heavy testing under the stars)

ASCOM & INDI support

Rotator is fully ASCOM6 supported. INDI support will follow by the time of the launch.

Standalone software

Control the Falcon Rotator from the supplied standalone Windows software.

Data connectivity

A USB2 Type B port at the top of the unit accepts the USB cable for PC connection. A 1.8 m long USB2 type B cable is supplied in the package.

Power input

Rotator requires DC 12 V ?13.8 V in order to drive with precision its stepper motor. It is strongly recommended to use PagasusAstro´s branded low ripple power supply unit of 12 V DC. A 13.8 V lead (or calcium/lead) battery is also recommended. Please use a power supply that can provide at least 1 A of current.

Note: Under no circumstance exceed DC 18 V input as you will cause a severe damage to the internal controller.
