Made with the same glass type used for the former ZEISS Orthos

The Baader Classic Ortho line is, from our point of view, on par with the legendary ZEISS Abbe eyepieces. Using the original glass material, they feature the same optical design. Compared with similar Orthos from far east, the picture is brighter and more brilliant. Color is neutral white without yellow tint. Fine planetary details can be observed in their original color.

These Classic Orthos are recommended for observers who want optimal perfomance on the optical axis. They deliver best results for lunar and planetary details, double star separation and eyepiece projection photography. The 18 mm version is also recommended for binocular use thanks to its comfortable eyepoint.

The classical Ortho consists of a cemented triplet and one single element. Manufacturing such an eyepiece is more complicated than e.g. a Plössl desgin. But the result is better on-axis definition.

Every single Baader Ortho comes with a rubber eyeguard. It prevents straylight from disturbing your vision.
