This instrument is the entry point into the world of really large apo refractors. Our 180 fills exactly the gap between our 152mm apo and the 203mm scope. Of course, this telescope also requires a really large and heavy mount. The instrument is therefore only suitable for mobile use to a limited extent. It is definitely a real eye-catcher for every observatory.

The 180mm SD apochromat with a large 4.2inch R&P focuser enables astrophotography at the very highest level. With the 0.8x reducer / flattener you can achieve a fast ratio of f / 5.6 with full correction of the image circle! This is the perfect level for full-frame photography. This means that you can expose objects in one night without any problems. The SD optics enables a clean color image so that even bright stars have no color fringes.

This reducer corrector has a M83x1 male thread on the camera side with a backfocus of 55 mm.

The optical elements are critical for a telescope. But just as important is the flawless mechanical construction of the tube with its internal baffles and the matching focuser system. Here we made sure that materials with very small thermal expansion were used. The focuser does not tilt and can also carry heavy loads without any problems. A sufficiently dimensioned and movable dew cap is of course also included. The supplied, solid tube rings are CNC-manufactured and also enable additional accessories such as viewfinders, secondary optics (guide scopes, etc.) to be mounted on the sides. A handle for the 19kg instrument is of course also included in the delivery.

Backfocus info: the refractor has a total backfocus of 250 mm, 85 mm of which is covered by a sliding tube that sits between the end of the tube and the focuser.
