The Altair 2210M mono camera has the
latest SmartSens SC2210 BSI sensor with super high sensitivity in the
visual spectrum and very high sensitivity in the red regions.
The pixel size of 4 microns makes this the ultimate small camera for autoguiding with
an OAG Off Axis Guider, and the extremely fast frame rate of 150FPS at
fill resolution would allow for high resolution lunar, planetary or
solar imaging with the Daystar Quark or Altair Imaging Solar Wedges.
The Smartsens SC 2210 sensor has extremely high quantum efficiency peaking at approx. 92%, with G Sensitivity reputed to be at 20100mv/lux*s. In
fact this sensor is designed for "starlight" use in near total
darkness, and may even exceed the Altair 462 and 327 cameras in
sensitivity, though not in dynamic range. Dynamic range is however not
important for guiding.
Included software: The well featured intuitive AltairCapture software is included in a CD ROM, and can also be downloaded from www.altairastro.help.
AltairCapture is a stable 64 bit Windows application, which allows full
control of the camera in high speed video or still mode. It includes
extensive automation features, and supports all the major file formats
useful for astro imaging and professional scientific imaging in 14bit or
8bit mode.
Autoguiding: The camera
has an ST4 auto-guiding port, and can be used to auto-guide with mounts
from all the major manufacturers supporting ST4 format, including
iOptron, Celestron and Skywatcher. The sensor is more than sensitive
enough for autoguiding.
